Vape Showdown: Pax 3 vs. Crafty
Vape Showdown: Pax 3 vs. Crafty
It’s time for a vape face-off between the ultra-hip Pax 3 and the über sleek Crafty by Storz & Bickel. Both of these portable vaporizers are highly rated amongst reviewers and users alike, but we’re here to ask the tough question: which of these two portable vaporizers is the best?
Design Quality and Battery Life
Let’s begin with the Pax 3. The Pax 3 has an extremely hi-tech design that’s discreet. Most people probably wouldn’t know what it is until you actually start vaping from it. The Pax 3 comes in four unique colors that give a sense of professionalism due to the matte color scheme. When the vaporizer is turned on, the logo gives off a vibrant light to indicate certain settings.
The outer shell of the Pax 3 is built from high-quality anodized aluminum which allows it to remain light while feeling sturdy. The Pax 3 fits perfectly in your hand and will slip easily into your pocket or bag. This portability gives the Pax 3 vaporizer a lot of added value since users can bring it anywhere.
The battery life on the Pax 3 is normal. It will last 8-10 sessions and takes roughly 2.5 hours for a full charge.
Now for the Crafty. The Crafty by Storz & Bickel offers the same design quality of what you’d expect from the legendary company that introduced the Volcano vaporizer to the world. When Storz & Bickel created the Crafty vaporizer, they meant business. The Crafty isn’t afraid of what it is: a full-fledged convection vaporizer. The Crafty is for those who want the attention in the crowd and the uniqueness to separate themselves from everyone else.
The Crafty vaporizer comes in one color: black. This is in part to the tactical design offered through pure German engineering. The size of the Crafty is larger than the Pax 3 but is still very portable, and weighing in at roughly 135g, it’s incredibly light. The Crafty vaporizer’s outer shell is constructed with high-grade plastic that looks and feels durable.
The Crafty will last roughly 4 sessions. It takes about 2 hours for a full charge but it’s capable of pass-through charging, which means you can vape while charging.
Ease of Use
How easy is it to use the Pax 3 or Crafty? Let’s see how simple it is to load, clean, and figure out their temperature settings.
The Pax 3’s loading procedure is very straightforward. The bottom of the vaporizer opens to a stainless steel chamber, and it’s here that users will drop in their finely ground herbs. For
concentrate users, Pax includes a smaller detachable chamber specifically for oils that are loaded into the bottom chamber as well.
Cleaning the Pax 3 is just as simple as loading it. To empty dry herbs, users just need to open the bottom chamber and use a small tool provided by Pax to pour it out. The herb won’t have any smell or residue due to the Pax’s efficient conduction mechanism.
Pax prides themselves in user-friendliness, and it can’t be any easier to use the Pax 3. If you are setting the temperature manually, you only need to click the top button to cycle through the four temperature options. If you decide to sync your Pax to your smartphone via the app, then you can quickly control your vaporizer via your phone.
Now for the Crafty. The Crafty is similarly easy to load as the Pax 3. The Crafty comes with an attachment to help the process of loading dry herbs into the convection chamber. This added attachment makes for a super clean loading process. Concentrates are easily loaded in the chamber as well on a provided drip pad.
Cleaning the Crafty is a fast process as well. The vaped herbs are neatly packed in the chamber and usually need a small push to get it all out. For concentrates, it’s recommended to use a brush in the event of residual buildup
Next, the Crafty comes equipped with the Crafty app. This app lets users fine-tune their temperature settings for the perfect hit. Just like the Pax, the Crafty app is controlled on your smartphone.
Overall Taste & Vape Quality
The taste from the Pax 3’s conduction vaporizer is seemingly lackluster. Although the Pax 3 has been perfect in every category, it has fallen short due to an overall muted sense of taste. Alternatively, the Pax 3 never gives a rough hit, and it consistently provides ample vape clouds on the highest temperature setting.
On the other hand, the Crafty convection vaporizer blew us away with the overwhelming terpene profiles that we’re able to taste. By being able to accurately pinpoint temperatures, we were able to get the best flavor profiles for each dry herb or concentrate selected. The vapor clouds the Crafty produces are thick and smooth.
The WinnerAfter comparing various vital components of the Pax 3 and the Crafty, we’ve decided that the winner is clearly the Crafty by Storz & Bickel. It was a difficult decision, considering these two vaporizers were neck and neck; but the final taste section gave the Crafty the edge to take the prize.
